What is RS Personal Alarm?
RS Personal Alarm is a certified personal emergency signal app (PNA) that protects lone workers, employees, and visitors via smartphone in emergencies – without additional hardware.
Do I need a special smartphone?
No. RS Personal Alarm runs on standard iOS and Android smartphones. Optionally, Bluetooth emergency buttons or rugged specialized smartphones can be added.
What happens if no internet is available?
The technical alarm informs users visually and audibly about connection issues, so that alternative measures can be taken in time.
Law & Compliance
Is a free emergency call app legally sufficient?
For activities with increased or critical risk levels, the DGUV Regulation 112-139 generally requires a compliant personal emergency signal system (PNA). Simple, non-certified emergency call apps often do not meet this requirement.
When am I as an employer required to protect lone workers?
As soon as employees work alone and without visual or audible contact with other persons, the duty of care according to § 5 ArbSchG applies. The specific measures result from the risk assessment.
What does the KRITIS umbrella law regulate?
The KRITIS umbrella law passed in January 2026 requires operators of critical infrastructures in ten key sectors to conduct risk analyses, resilience measures, and reporting obligations. Details see Knowledge Hub.
Data protection
Are employees permanently tracked?
No. The location is hidden by default and is only transmitted to authorized persons in case of emergency.
Where is the data stored?
The receiving unit is hosted exclusively on servers in Germany; processing is fully GDPR-compliant.
Can RS Personal Alarm be used anonymously?
Yes. No registration is required via QR code onboarding; movement data is processed temporarily, encrypted, and only for specific purposes.

How long does the setup take?
The web-based receiving unit is usually configured and ready for use within a few hours.
